Intel prepares the Arrow Lake Halo SoC with more powerful integrated graphics

AMD currently has a virtual monopoly on x86 handheld consoles. The Steam Deck, ASUS ROG Ally/Ally XLegion Go, the ZOTAC Gaming Zone and models from many other companies use chips from the brand. The reason is none other than the good graphic performance of AMD’s specific SoCs for laptops and this type of device, with good CPU and GPU performance together with the support inherited from the Radeon graphics division.

Now it has been filtered which could be Intel’s answer to the upcoming AMD Strix Halo SoCs, an Arrow Lake family SoC that will feature an oversized integrated GPU compared to conventional Arrow Lake. This iGPU is expected to be based on the Intel Xe2 “Battlemage” architecture and to be accompanied by the Arrow Lake P-Cores and E-Cores architecture.

The fact that its existence has been leaked under the name “Arrow Lake Halo” seems to make it clear that this is a response to the family of SoCs that we will see in the coming months “Strix Halo” from AMD.

It remains to be seen whether these chips will succeed in their goal and make a name for themselves in this competitive market, provided they are accompanied by drivers that are up to the task and have good support.
