As has been seen in a leak, it seems that Intel Meteor Lake-S processors have been canceledsomething that although it does not affect other ranges such as the Meteor Lake-P, it does directly affect the desktop chips, which is where silicons with the -S suffix are commonly used.
However, it seems that its architecture has not been completely discarded, because as we read under these lines, silicon Meteor Lake-S has become one of the variants of Meteor Lake-Palso having a GT1 iGPU with 64 execution units, something that would help to deduce in which processors this silicon has ended up.
As is understood, the design of these processors will be based on tiles or “tiles””, where each part of the chip is physically divided into independent chiplets that are mounted on an interconnect systemmainly separating the CPU cores from the I/O part of the chip and from the iGPU.
We will have to see what the future of Intel’s portfolio holds for us, since such a cancellation does not seem to be something that can be done lightly, and possibly made by having a better option for desktop silicon.
