We are seeing a lot of news about Intel’s next generation of Meteor Lake processors, some chips that are still part of Intel’s future, since not even the Raptor Lake chips have been released yet. However, at Hot Chips 34, Intel has cleared some doubts about the manufacture of these chips.
For example, one of the rumors indicated that there were delays in the manufacture of these chips due to problems with the manufacture of the different areas of the processor – let us remember, will arrive in a format of chiplets on Foveros—, rumors that have been completely dismissed, with Intel assuring that manufacturing is following the planned plans.
The role of TSMC in the manufacture of these chips has also been explained, which is not small, since three of the four chiplets of the Intel Meteor Lake processors will be manufactured by TSMCwith only CPU cores made by Intel.
As we read in ExtremeTech, CPU cores will be manufactured with Intel 4 nodewhile on TSMC’s side, the GPU and I/O will be manufactured with its N5 node, while the SoC will be manufactured on the N6 node, all this on a Foveros substrate manufactured by Intel at 22 nanometers.
