Intel and AMD they want work together to offer a better future of the dominant PC architecture, the x86. For this, both companies are going to collaborate on the x86 Ecosystem Advisory Groupa group that intends expand the x86 architecture ecosystem looking to the future and maintain the compatibility within this same platform. This group not only is it made up of Intel and AMD, the main (and only) creators of x86 processors, but it is backed by great such as Dell, Broadcom, Google Cloud, HP, HPE, Lenovo, Meta, Microsoft, Oracle and Red Hat.

With this group it is intended standardize technologies looking to the future as 3D packaging and a tile based designwhich we are seeing in the new x86 processors. This group also aims to improve this architecture to unify hardware and software with the ability to benefit from new features (such as AVX-512). It is also intended to simplify x86 to offer better integration with software and interfaces offered by architecture. With this it will be possible to better integrate new capabilities and make them more efficient on Windows and Linux through software.

A group in which the owner of the x86 architecture, Intel, has joined forces with its sole licensee, AMD, to improve the architecture where the competition with ARM has become stronger and RISC-V is also present. From this group they bet on x86San architecture of 64 bit only which removes 32-bit support, and which may accelerate thanks to this collaboration.

Among the members of this group, Linus Torvalds, creator of Linux, and Tim Sweeney of Epic Games also stand out. Together they aim implement standards in architectural interfaces that they can apply also to instruction set in a simple way.
