Oct. 20 (Portaltic/EP) –
Instagram has expanded the tools it offers users to use the platform safely, including improvements to account lockout, new word filter features, and reminders to be kind when writing a direct message.
Instagram users now have the ability to block someone else’s account, and with the latest update to the platform, they’ll be able to extend that block to any other account that same person has open in the social network.
This novelty seeks to prevent the blocked person from contacting the user again, as the company explains in a press release. The company estimates that, since this is an automatic block, about 4 million fewer accounts will need to be blocked each week, as pick up on your blog.
Another tool that has been updated is the one that allows filter direct messages and comments by words, phrases or emojiswhich has already been used by one in five users with more than 10,000 followers.
Instagram is currently testing its default activation on professional accounts, and has extended its coverage to the answers to the stories. In addition, the filters have received improvements, so that they can detect intentional misspellings of offensive terms in different languages.
They will also start filtering direct message requests that contain spam and scams, starting with the English language, although the company hopes to extend it to more countries and languages soon.
For the direct messages, when the platform detects that someone has written something that may have a negative impact on the user, it will begin to show in the coming weeks a kindness notificationthat is, a reminder that there is a person on the other side, so that they reflect and express themselves in a more respectful way.
Instagram has also incorporated a notification for people who are going to respond to a potentially offensive comment with the aim of reconsidering, which is already available for users who use English, Portuguese, Spanish, French, Chinese or Arabic.
