Instagram will apply more restrictive content adjustments to those under 16

With today’s update, teens under the age of 16 will default to the most severe screening if they are new to Instagramsomething that can be changed later by entering the settings menu, while existing users under the age of 16 will receive a message inviting them to make this change, although it is not mandatory to make this change.

This affects the content and accounts viewed on Search, Explore, Hashtag Pages, Reels, Source Recommendations, and Suggested Accountsas the company explains, so there does not seem to be a granular control of where we can see certain content and where not.

In any case, it is a good idea to protect the little ones –remember that the minimum age to register on Instagram is 13 years—of certain content that, although it is allowed in the application, is not necessarily for all audiences.
