17 Feb. (Portaltic/EP) –
instagram has presented the transmission channelsyour new messaging tool with which users can create channels to share updates text, video and photos with all the followers who decide to join the channel.
The Instagram Streaming Channels tool, implemented by Meta, is intended to create a “hotline” between creators and followers to share news, get feedback and create a community with other users, as detailed on the platform itself.
In this sense, the transmission channels are based on a chat that allows sending one-way messages from the creator to all users join that channel. These messages reach followers in the form of updates in their direct mail inboxesa system very similar to Telegram channels.
As Meta explains in a releasethey can be create all the channels that the creator considers and, in them, share so much photos, videos and text, as gifts, surveys and voice notes. Thus, as it is an interactive communication tool, followers will be able to react to any of these messages.
Creators will be able to create theme-based channelssuch as a sports or fashion channel, and share updates, news, information or comments.
As for the followers, Instagram has developed that they will be able to abandon or mute streaming channels at any time. In the same way, they can also configure notifications of the creators by going to the creator’s profile, and clicking on the bell icon. After that, you will have to select the transmission channel and choose between receive all, none or some notifications.
Once the creator sends the first channel message from your inbox, your followers will receive a single notification to join the channel, after which followers will not receive any further notifications unless they add the channel to their inbox. In addition, creators will be able to add a ‘join channel’ tag to your stories to make it available to users.
Likewise, Instagram has indicated that will add more features to streaming channels in the coming months. Among them, it is considering allowing channels created by more than one user. It will also include the ability to ask questions with features such as ‘Ask me anything’.
Instagram is currently testing the feature with a limited group of creators in USA before launching it globally. However, the platform has made available to interested users a waiting list to get this function as soon as possible.
One of the first users who has inaugurated the tool is himself CEO of the company, Mark Zuckerberg, who has created a channel to share news and updates about all products and technology that Meta is building. “It will be the place where I will first share news about Meta products,” he said.
Following this thread, Zuckerberg has announced that in the next months Meta will also implement the streaming channels on Facebook and Messenger.
