Instagram is already working on an artificial intelligence-powered chatbot, according to images leaked by researchers via Twitter.
Meta continues to adopt artificial intelligence in each of its applications at a time when this technology continues to grab headlines and is being integrated into websites and applications through new features that improve the experience of its users.
A tweet now reveals that Instagram is testing an AI-powered chatbot option for its platform. With the new feature, users could chat with this tool to ask questions and get advice in their direct messages.
According to leaks reflecting the developments, users can choose from 30 different AI personalities while interacting with these chatbots on Instagram.
Alessandro Paluzzi shared a screenshot for the still-in-development feature that reveals that “Chat with an AI” will answer questions and give advice. In addition to these features, the feature will allow users to get help composing their messages, which suggests that chatbots can act as a generative AI tool, a la ChatGPT.
Instagram wants to join the fever for artificial intelligence
A second screenshot shared by this developer shows an Instagram chat window, with a new @ai command that appears to start the conversation with a chatbot named ai_meta —It is understood that it is in the name beta—. It is displayed next to the /silent command which allows users to send messages without notifying the recipients.
Instagram and Meta have yet to announce any plans to roll out support for AI chatbots on the platform, and it’s currently unclear when the feature will roll out. As with other features that have been leaking, This could be launched with some modifications or directly remain in the forgotten drawer.
Mention that this would-be Instagram chatbot is very similar in purpose and design to Snapchat’s My AI. Since the feature of this other app has not been well received, it will be interesting to see how Instagram follows in its footsteps without repeating the results.
