INIA researcher is invited to coordinate the edition of an important international scientific journal

Ingrid Martínez, an agronomist from INIA Remehue, a specialist in soil conservation and crop physiology, among other subjects, will be Topic Coordinator at the prestigious Frontiers in Soil Science.

Osorno, July 26, 2022.- Frontiers in Soil Science is one of the journals of Frontiers Media SA, the third most cited research publisher and open scientific platform, and the sixth largest in the world. Founded in 2007 in Switzerland, it spans hundreds of academic disciplines and is peer-reviewed with rigorous quality standards.

This medium appointed the researcher from the Institute of Agricultural Research (INIA) of Chile, Dr. Ingrid Martínez, as coordinator of the Research Topic: “Strategies to reduce fertilizers: how to maintain the productivity and profitability of crops in acid agricultural soils” , which will allow you to develop this proposal of your own.

The specialist hopes that with this work “an interdisciplinary discussion will be generated, with novel approaches on the tolerance or adaptation of crops to acid or low fertility soils; as well as reducing the cost of transporting fertilizers, especially in remote areas, promoting the use of local organic amendments and strengthening peasant family farming.”

Ingrid Martínez invited the researchers Claudia Di Bene (CREA, Italy) and Patricio Sandaña (UACh, Chile), to participate as editors, “whom I thank for agreeing to join this interesting challenge, as well as Frontiers magazine for giving me the opportunity to give life to a subject that interests me to continue addressing scientifically. In addition, this role as coordinator will allow me to expand research networks at a professional level and give visibility to the work that INIA carries out”, concluded Martínez.

Ingrid Martínez is an Agricultural Engineer, Ph.D. in Agricultural Sciences and Master in Sciences mentioning Soils. She works as a researcher at the INIA Remehue Regional Research Center, located in Osorno, Chile. Topics of his particular interest are soil compaction and gas transport in arable soils, developed through Postdoctoral research at Agroscope, Switzerland, and he has directed scientific projects on the rehabilitation of degraded soils, through conservationist structures in areas with influence of volcanic soils.
