Subjacent inflation, however, presented an increase of 0.18% compared to the last fortnight of March and reached an annual rate of 7.75%.
Within the underlying index, at a fortnightly rate, the prices of merchandise rose 0.31% and those of services, 0.03%.
core inflation excludes the most volatile prices and the tariffs authorized by the government, for which reason it is considered a better parameter for measuring general inflation in the medium term.
On the other hand, non-core inflation fell 1.22% at a fortnightly rate and increased 1.82% at an annual rate. Within this index, the prices of agricultural products fell 0.07% and those of energy fell 2.18% fortnightly.
“This was mainly due to adjustments in electricity rates within the warm season scheme in 18 cities in the country,” said the Inegi.
The products that rose and fell in price the most
Among the products that rose the most in price are chicken, with a fortnightly increase of 3.60%, followed by Magna gasoline, lunch boxes, torterias and taquerias, home ownership, oranges and eggs.
While, on the other hand, the products that fell the most in price and that had the greatest incidence in reducing inflation were: electricity, domestic LP gas, air transport, tomatoes and packaged tourist services.
