NFT’s final-fantasy will debut with Cloud Strife

You read it right, it was a matter of time for Square Enix to take a step further in the world of NFTs and has just revealed that it will launch a figure of the protagonist of Final Fantasy 7 and AVALANCHE member Cloud Strife, who will have value as an NFT.

As part of San Diego Comic-Con 2023 and as part of the 25th anniversary of Final Fantasy 7Square Enix revealed a new figure from the Bring Arts line (action figures with joints) of Cloud Strife in the SOLDIER uniform carrying the Buster Sword with a realistic art style, but with features that evoke the original model.

The interesting thing is that Square Enix announced a version called “Digital Plus Edition”, which also includes “an exchangeable ticket” that can be exchanged for “a digital certificate of authenticity” (validating the purchase of the figure), as well as another ticket that will grant a “digital version of the figure”, which can be seen on a smartphone or on a PC.

It is common for some figures to include a seal or certificate of authenticity; however, it is very rare that it is done in digital format and it is even less frequent that access to a virtual 3D model of the figure is included.

What makes this project an NFT is that both the certificate of authenticity and the digital version of the figure “are managed through blockchain technology known as NFT,” as Square Enix explains.

It is important to mention that the standard version, the pure figure, is sold for $129.99 USD, while the one that includes the digital benefits is priced at $159.99 USD, which means that for the digital certificate and a replica of the 3D model fans must pay $30 USD more. So much the standard version What the one that includes the NFTs They are available for pre-sale through the Square Enix Store and will go on sale on November 23.

In order to get this digital content, the player will first need to sign up for the Enjin digital wallet app for free.

It is important to mention that Square Enix has a greater presence in blockchain technology in Japan and other countries in the East, so this, although it is not a video game per se, is the first important attempt to attract the public in the West.
