The Indonesian Ministry of Communications and Information Technology launched the ASEANpedia e-book on April 10. The publication of ASEANpedia is part of the activities of the Indonesian ASEAN Chairmanship.
“The theme of the Indonesian ASEAN Chairmanship is ‘ASEAN Matters: Epicenter of Growth. This book is expected to make the public understand that ASEAN is relevant in helping to become the center of global economic growth,” said Usman Kasong, Director General of Public Information and Communication (IKP) at the Ministry.
The Director General stated that ASEANpedia is not only aimed at providing knowledge about ASEAN, but also instilling in the public that ASEAN is important in contributing to geopolitics and geoeconomics.
Usman hopes that the e-book can serve as a reference for finding information about ASEAN and the Indonesian ASEAN Chairmanship in 2023. “The book is interesting because it is able to report both geoeconomic and geopolitical ASEAN successes in plain language. “, he claimed.
About the encyclopedia
The information is divided into three chapters: basic information on ASEAN, Indonesia’s role in ASEAN, and the Indonesian Presidency in 2023. The information is presented in two languages, Indonesian and English.
In the first section, the ASEANPedia takes readers through the history of ASEAN. This e-book reviews clearly and concisely the beginnings of this organization of Southeast Asian countries, from the Bangkok Declaration, the ASEAN Charter, the requirements for membership, to the title of its official song. The first part of the ASEANPedia also looks at the role of the organization in the world.

The second part of the ASEANPedia explores the international role of Indonesia. It analyzes the work of Adam Malik. He became a central figure as the founder of ASEAN.
