The Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the Republic of Korea, Gandi Sulistiyanto, organized the annual briefing for the media on February 17, 2023 at the Ambassador’s Official Residence in Seoul.
In his speech, Ambassador Sulistiyanto stressed that the 50th anniversary of Indonesia-Korea friendship is not limited to G-to-G (government-to-government) and B-to-B (business-to-business) ties. , but more importantly, it is about P-to-P (person to person) ties to develop a closer friendship and mutual understanding.
The briefing aims to disseminate two main priorities of the Indonesian embassy in 2023. First, the 50th anniversary of Indonesia-South Korea diplomatic relations, and second, Indonesia’s ASEAN Chairmanship.
In this regard, the Embassy plans to organize prominent activities throughout this year, such as a multi-stakeholder talk and dialogue show, a forum on economic relations between the two countries and, just as importantly, , cultural events and creative economy. Considering the importance of the role of youth, the Indonesian Ambassador urges the younger generations of Indonesia and South Korea to strengthen their collaboration in various fields, including becoming creative entrepreneurs and digipreneurs, as they will be the future leaders of both nations.
Bilateral Indonesia-Korea relations
Ambassador Sulistiyanto also underlines the entry into force of the Indonesia-Korea Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IK-CEPA), which will start in January 2023. This economic agreement will pave the way for a closer economic link between the two countries with the increase of trade volume, as well as boost the interest of Korean companies to invest and earn economic benefits in Indonesia.
