India dismisses three soldiers for the "accidental" firing of a missile against Pakistan

Aug. 23 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Indian Air Force has fired three military personnel, including the unit commander, after misconduct led to the “accidental” firing of a supersonic cruise missile over Pakistan in early March.

The Pakistani authorities then filed a note of protest and an investigation in India has determined that the launch did take place, but that it was due to a technical failure during maintenance work.

The three dismissed soldiers have been considered “responsible” for the accident, so they are out of the Armed Forces “with immediate effect”, according to a statement collected by the newspaper ‘Times of India’.

Pakistan and India have a long history of confrontations, derived especially from their conflict over the Kashmir region, for which they have fought in two of the three wars waged since independence from the United Kingdom.
