In the face of a crisis in Silicon Valley, Mexican soonicorns become attractive

“It is the perfect time for the development of the region due to what is happening in the world after the pandemic, and in the technological landscape,” said Bravo, who also stressed that innovation is no longer concentrated in Silicon Valley, but rather has begun to distribute around the world, thanks to the collaboration between specialists and the exchange of ideas.

According to the businessman, this is an opportunity for investors to look at Latin America to explore new markets and cultures. Regarding the Mexican case, he highlighted that there is talent, capable universities and a very relevant proximity to the United States that helps with the expansion processes.

The country has seven unicorns that stand out in different areas, such as the financial ecosystem, which includes Clip or Konfío; e-commerce, with Merama; or cryptocurrencies (Bitso), among other sectors. In addition, it is expected that during this year more Mexican companies will reach 1,000 million dollars.

The valuation of large technology companies is down, Bravo detailed. Therefore, “investors want profitable companies and this phenomenal set of startups and growing unicorns from Mexico is a great opportunity for them to turn a profit faster than they would in similar markets in the United States.”
