In August, 12 banks remained in the red: what drove this result?

Banks recorded profits of $5.43 billion at the end of August, a figure that represents a drop of 3.7% compared to what they had a year ago and which totaled $5.64 billion, according to figures from the Financial Superintendency.

For their part, credit establishments (banks, financial corporations, financing companies and financial cooperatives) reported profits of $5.5 billion, an amount lower than that recorded in August 2023, a period in which they amounted to $6 billion.

Apart from banks, financial corporations earned $264.2 billion and financial cooperatives $40.8 billion.

The bank that earned the most at the end of the eighth month of the year was Bancolombia, with $3.82 billion, followed by Banco de Bogotá, with $820,407 million and Citibank with $508,325 million and Banco de Occidente with $361,072 million.

For their part, the banks that had the most losses were BBVA Colombia with $248,743 million and Bancamía with $213,261 million.
