If you have these up to 10th Gen Intel processors, support for their integrated GPUs ends

Intel stops offering updated support on dozens of integrated GPUs, including many recent ones, as recently as 3 years ago.

As the long-awaited launch of its Intel ARC graphics cards draws near, the North American company sets new priorities. And the integrated GPUs in the processor are not among them.

Intel has published the list of integrated GPUs that are going into Legacy mode, which is a fancy way of saying it retires them. as of right now stop receiving updates, except for security patches or bugs. Therefore they lose support for new games and applications that need optimization.

The list has caused controversy because in addition to quite old Celeron and Pentium processors, you are also processors up to 10th Generation, which were released just 3 years ago. Although it’s also fair to say that few people use integrated GPUs to play games, most use a graphics card… except in laptops.

Currently Intel integrated GPUs they receive monthly updates with bug fixes, game optimizations, security bug fixes, etc.

That a GPU becomes Legacy means that from now on you will only receive quarterly updates to correct security flaws or bugs, but no optimizations for new games.

This is the list of Intel processors whose GPUs are no longer fully supported, moving to Legacy mode:

• 10th Generation Intel® Core® Processors with Intel® UHD Graphics (codename Comet Lake)
• 9th Generation Intel Core® Processors, related Pentium®/Celeron® Processors and Intel® Xeon® Processors, with Intel® UHD Graphics 630 (Codename Coffee Lake-R)
• 8th Generation Intel® Core Processors, related Pentium®/Celeron® Processors and Intel® Xeon® Processors, with Intel® Iris® Plus Graphics 655 and Intel® UHD Graphics 610, 620, 630, P630 (codename Kaby Lake-R , coffee® lake)
• Intel Pentium® and Celeron® Processor Family (Codename Gemini Lake)
• 7th Generation Intel® Core Processors, related Pentium®/Celeron® Processors, and Intel® Xeon® Processors, with Intel® Iris® Plus Graphics 640, 650, and Intel® HD Graphics 610, 615, 620, 630, P630 (codename kaby® lake)
• 6th Generation Intel® Core®, Intel®® Core® My Pentium® Processors with Intel® Iris® Graphics 540, Intel® Iris® Graphics 550, Intel® Iris® Pro Graphics 580, and Intel® HD Graphics 510, 515, 520, 530 (codename skylake)
• Intel® Pentium® Processor Family and Intel® Celeron® Processor Family (codename Jasper Lake),
• Intel® Core® Processor with Intel® Hybrid Technology (Codename Lakefield)
• Intel® Atom, Pentium®, and Celeron® Processor Family (codename Elkhart® Lake)

This change implies that Intel graphics driver will now have two versions: One for 10th Gen and earlier Intel Core processors, and one for 11th Gen and above Intel Core processors.
