IDF attacks 'terrorist squad' with plans to attack Israel in former Gaza school

MADRID Dec. 14 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have confirmed a “selective” attack, carried out with the help of the country’s Intelligence services, against a former school located in Gaza City that was allegedly being used by “a terrorist squad” that planned to attack Israeli soil in the near future.

“An Air Force aircraft has recently targeted, selectively and with intelligence guidance from the IDF, Shin Bet and Southern Command, a terrorist squadron that was planning and en route to carrying out terrorist plots. against our forces in the Gaza Strip and throughout Israeli territory in the immediate period,” the Israeli Army explained in a publication on its account on the X social network.

In the same letter they have specified that the building they attacked was located in Gaza City and “previously” was used as a school for children, under the name of Jaffa.

The IDF has insisted that its offensive has included “many measures to reduce the possibility of harming those who were not involved” and has justified its actions by alleging that “terrorist organizations in the Gaza Strip systematically violate International Law”, using of “shelters and civil institutions” that they “brutally exploit” and of the civilian population that they use “as a human shield for terrorist actions and needs.”

The Gaza Ministry of Health, controlled by the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), indicated this Friday in a statement that so far 44,875 deaths and 106,454 injuries have been confirmed, including 40 “martyrs” and 98 injured due to “three massacres” perpetrated by Israeli troops during the last day.

However, he stressed that these balances only include the victims who have arrived at hospitals in the enclave and has reiterated that there are still numerous deaths “under the rubble and lying in the streets, since the ambulances and Civil Defense teams cannot reach them.”

Israel launched its offensive against Gaza after the attacks carried out on October 7, 2023 by Hamas and other Palestinian groups, which left nearly 1,200 dead and about 250 kidnapped. Additionally, around 800 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces and in settler attacks since then in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
