The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have announced the death of a commander of the missile unit of the Shiite party-militia Hezbollah, Mohamed Ali Ismail, as well as other leaders of the group in the bombings this Friday afternoon against different points of Lebanon.
“Air Force fighter jets attacked and killed terrorists Mohamed Ali Ismail, commander of Hezbollah’s missile unit in southern Lebanon, and his deputy, terrorist Hussein Ahmed Ismail. Other commanders and terrorists were eliminated with them. of Hezbollah,” they have indicated on their X social network account.
The IDF has assured that the commander who died during Friday’s attacks had committed “numerous acts of terrorism towards the State of Israel”, including the launching of “rockets (…) and missiles.”
“His murder joins that of the head of Hezbollah’s missile and rocket network, the terrorist Ibrahim Mohamed Kabisi, and the murder of other senior officials of the group’s missile and rocket network,” the Israeli Army reported in reference to to this Tuesday’s attack in which six people died.
The Armed Forces have not specified whether the Hezbollah members were killed during the attacks against the south of the country or the suburbs of the Lebanese capital that targeted its general secretary, Hasan Nasrallah.
This Friday, the IDF carried out several bombings against residential buildings located in the south of Beirut, alleging that they housed “weapons belonging to Hezbollah” under their foundations.
Its spokesman, Daniel Hagari, justified these actions by claiming that the group “has more than 150,000 rockets intended to kill Israeli civilians” and that some of them are “strategically placed below the civilian population.”
Previously, the Arabic spokesman for the Israeli Army, Avichai Adrai, had asked the Lebanese population to “evacuate buildings and stay away at a distance of no less than 500 meters” for their “safety and that of their loved ones.”
The Lebanese Ministry of Health has reported that six people have died and 91 have been injured as a result of the first of the bombings, although the number of victims is expected to increase as search efforts progress, as reported by the NNA news agency.
