The board of directors of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) voted on Monday to dismiss the head of that entity, the Cuban-American Mauricio Claver-Carone, after an investigation that implicates him in an alleged transgression of ethics for having had intimate relations with a high-ranking executive. range at that center.
“The Board of Governors of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), following the unanimous recommendation of the Board of Executive Directors, has resolved that Mr. Mauricio Claver-Carone will cease to hold office as President of the Bank, effective September 26, 2022” , indicated the institution in a brief release.
Carone told Reuters that he had been denied due process in the bank’s handling of the complaints and following the findings of an independent investigation.
Last Thursday, the 14 directors voted to recommend his dismissal after findings that he allegedly favored the person with whom he was in a relationship with two notable salary increases in a short time.
