Within the General Budget of the Nation, which was approved in the first debate in the joint economic commission of the Congress of the Republic for an amount of 405 billion pesos, includes a budget addition of 14 billion pesos on the amount originally presented by the government of former President Iván Duque.

One of the sectors in which the most outstanding increased resources is educationwhich in itself is already the one with the largest allocation in the country (49 billion pesos for the 2022 term).
For the year 2023, the original project assigned for that term an amount of 53.45 billion pesos for the education sector. Now to that we would be adding 1.3 billion more, of which it is already known how they will be distributed.
In total there are 1,361 billion pesos, of which 227,000 million allocated to operating expensesespecially public higher education. Of that portion, 216,000 million are to strengthen the budget base of these institutions, which corresponds to an increase of 5 additional points to the CPI. The remaining 61,000 million are also to meet an adjustment to the increase in the CPI.

Now, in the last few hours, the Ministry of Education confirmed that there will be a budget addition to Icetex for forgive the debts of 25% of students that meet certain requirements.
The budget for this objective will be 8 billion pesos. It is estimated that with these resources the debt of 500 credits of the 4,500 that they plan to forgive before 2023 would be forgiven.
