Dec. 25 () –
All Avangrid distributors (Iberdrola’s subsidiary in the United States) work in the “fastest and safest” way to restore electricity supply to the more than 500,000 homes and businesses across the country that have been left without electricity due to the passage of storm Elliot, with freezing temperatures from Canada to Texas.
The storm has downed power lines with destructive winds, heavy snowfall and extremely low temperatures, so thousands of field professionals from NYSEG, RG&E, CMP and UI (Avangrid’s distributors) are living an unexpected Christmas with critical performances that include the repair of hundreds of damaged transmission lines, thousands of downed cables and hundreds of broken poles.
According to a statement from Iberdrola, the company had notified the crews to activate them when the supply cuts occurred, which is allowing it to respond quickly and effectively to the impacts of the storm.
In addition to the distribution personnel, hundreds of Iberdrola members in the United States “are giving their all”, not only in the fulfillment of their duties, but also in helping the communities affected during the storm.
While they are resolving incidents, they maintain contact and coordination with the regional emergency services and those responsible for citizen protection in the most affected areas.
For his part, the Chairman of Avangrid and Iberdrola SA, Ignacio Sánchez Galán, wanted to send a message of thanks and encouragement to the company’s teams in the United States for their professionalism and dedication “by once again putting the customer at the center of center”.
