Elon Musk has announced that he will be stepping down as CEO of Twitter (i.e. the newly created company X Corp.). “I am excited to announce that I have a new CEO”, has tweeted this thursday.
Details are currently substantially scarce, but the billionaire has indicated that “in six weeks” a woman will lead the social network. However, her name has not yet been revealed.
Elon Musk will remain linked to Twitter as president
Musk, who shelled out $44 billion for the platform last year after much brainstorming, will remain attached as CEO and CTO (the technology leader position).
In line with his promises from the past, the also CEO of Tesla has indicated that his new responsibilities within Twitter will be related to the supervision of products, software and operations.
It should be noted that this it’s not the first time that Musk refers to these types of major changes at the corporate level. True to his style, about five months ago he did a poll in which he asked if he “should step down as CEO of Twitter.”
Most of the people voted in favor of his resignation. Immediately afterwards, the businessman announced that he would abide by the results, but not immediately. “I will resign as CEO as soon as I find someone innocent enough to accept the position!” she said.
We have to wait to find out who will be the person in charge of being in charge of Twitter and, above all, what his leadership style will be. The Musk era has been characterized by massive layoffs and drastic changes that have ended up hurting the social network on several fronts.
The blue verification check, which for a long time was synonymous with a certain prestige, has lost that precious status. The main advertisers on the platform have reduced their investment by almost 90%. And the social network is worth about half of what Musk paid for it.
