Denmark’s Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen has directly accused China of being behind Russia’s military operations in Ukraine, saying that without its help “this war would not have been possible.”
“I don’t think Russia would have been able to continue this large-scale war and at the same time operate as it does in other regions of the world without the help of China,” said the Danish prime minister in an interview with the Financial Times, in which she also called on Europe to rid itself of its technological dependence on China.
“We were too dependent on Russian gas and oil and now we are repeating the same thing with China, in relation to many technologies, which is a big mistake,” he said.
Frederiksen has pointed out the need for the European Union to act more decisively against the subterfuges used by Russia to circumvent economic sanctions and thus be able to continue its large-scale war in Ukraine, such as the so-called ‘shadow fleet’, vessels that operate in the service of Moscow.
