According to the Israeli army, A long-range ballistic missile launched from Yemen hit central Israelcausing a fire. The missile triggered air raid sirens in Tel Aviv and across central Israel, including Ben Gurion International Airport, sending residents running for cover. There were no casualties. Netanyahu said any attack on Israel would be met with retaliation.

Number of elderly people in Japan reaches an all-time high. The Interior Ministry released the figures ahead of the country’s Keiro No Hi, Respect for the Elderly Day, on Sunday. The nation is estimated to have reached a record 36.25 million people aged 65 or older on Sunday. This is an increase of 20,000 from the previous year. Seniors make up 29.3% of the total population, another record.
INDIA
A 24-year-old student died from Nipah virus – first identified in Malaysia in 1998 – in the state of Kerala. All 151 people who were in contact with the victim are being monitored to prevent the spread of the deadly virus. This is the second death caused by Nipah in Kerala since July. Nipah is classified as a priority pathogen by the WHO due to its potential to trigger an epidemic. There is no vaccine to prevent infection and no treatment to cure it.
PHILIPPINES
Philippines will continue to deploy ships to the disputed Sabina sandbankin the South China Sea, Coast Guard spokesman Jay Tarriela said today. The remarks followed the return of the PCG vessel Teresa Magbanua after a five-month deployment to the Shoal, which has been there since April to monitor what Manila suspects are small-scale Chinese reclamation activities in the area.
