Hundreds of supporters of former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro clashed with police on Sunday during a demonstration outside the headquarters of Brazil’s National Congress in Brasilia.
The news agency AFP reported that Brazilian police used tear gas on Sunday to repel hundreds of supporters of the far-right former president.
It occurs a week after the inauguration of the left-wing president Luis Inácio Lula da Silva.
A report of Reuters indicated that Bolsonaro’s supporters broke a blockade established by the security forces and invaded the ministries and the Congress building in Brasilia.
The protesters also invaded the parking lot of the Planalto Palace, as reported Brazil. President Lula is currently on an official trip to the state of Sao Paulo.
