WiFI 7 will be the next big leap in wireless connectivity coming to users this year. We have already seen demonstrations of its operation by Intel and Broadcomm, and the announcement of chips with this type of connectivity by other companies such as Qualcomm or Mediatek. In addition, companies like ZTE have already presented their first Routers that combine WiFi 7 and 5G.
Now it is Huawei who has presented its own WiFi Router 7 and we have been able to see it at the event that the company is holding in Paris showing its latest news and announcements. It is a Router oriented to professional environments.
Among the few details that the company has revealed about its new WiFi 7 Router is that it will reach speeds of 18 Gbps by combining the 2.4GHz, 5GHz and 6GHz. In addition, it integrates two 10Gbps Ethernet ports so you can take advantage of all that wireless speed on a high-speed wired network as well. Additionally, there is a fiber SFP+ port that also reaches 10 Gbps.
As a curiosity, comment that the power supply needed to power this high-performance router for professional use is 28 volts.
As for the SoC that gives life to this router, the company has not wanted to reveal who manufactures it. At the moment it seems that those with WiFi 7 chips are Broadcom, Qualcomm and MediaTek, so it is expected that the router integrates one of the chips from these manufacturers, since it is not a SoC from Huawei itself.
Huawei itself boasts of being one of the main contributors to the development of this new standard which will replace the current WiFi 6 and WiFi 6E starting this year and will be capable of reaching up to 30 Gbps of maximum speed by combining the 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz and 6 GHz bands
