Huawei invested in optical, electrical and materials science research to overcome the challenges that different skin tones, wrist sizes and weather conditions pose to the various sensors.
TruSense measures more than 60 health and fitness indicators, the company explained, as well as an emotional well-being component: sensors monitor the user’s heart rate and autonomic nervous system data. This data is fed into an algorithm that generates an assessment of the user’s emotional well-being and stress levels, to help them enjoy the benefits of a healthier body and mind.
The first products powered by this technology are scheduled to go on sale this September.
Huawei entered the wearables sector 11 years ago and has so far shipped more than 150 million devices and gained more than 520 million users.
According to the International Data Corporation (IDC), in the first quarter of 2024, Huawei ranked first globally in the number of wearable devices shipped, and has been the leading brand in the Chinese market for 5 consecutive years.
