Huawei has come loaded with news to the event held today in China. In addition to renewing its traditional high-end range with the new P60, with good photographic features, it has also replaced its representative in the segment of foldables with the Matte X3. Broadly speaking, this phone takes a good part of the internal technical characteristics of the P60 and adopts them in a folding format, but the truth is that it has some interesting peculiarities.

Likewise, Huawei has also unveiled a new smart watch.

Huawei Mate X3: lighter and more resistant

Starting with the Huawei Mate X3, this new folding mobile phone continues to adopt the already traditional format of a large internal and external screen for one-handed use. Now, it is a fairly light smartphone, even more so than the Galaxy Z Fold4 (it only weighs 239 grams) and it has water resistance with IPX8 level like its rival from Samsung, which is something very unusual in folding phones.

Also, the hinge folds inward, which should leave a completely flat phone when closed.

  • Screen:
    • Indoor: OLED, 7.85 inches, 2496×2224 pixels, 120 Hz
    • Exterior: OLED, 6.4 inches, 2504×1080 pixels, 120 Hz
  • Processor: Snapdragon 8+ 4G
  • Memory: 12GB
  • Storage: 256GB/512GB/1TB
  • Rear cameras (triple)
    • Wide angle: 50 megapixels and f / 1.8
    • Ultra wide angle: 13 megapixels and f / 2.2
    • Telephoto: 12 megapixels, OIS and f / 3.4, 5x optical zoom
  • Front camera (same sensor on both screens): 8 megapixels and f/2.4
  • Battery: 4,800 mAh with 65 W fast charging and 50 W wireless (5,060 mAh in Collector’s Edition)
  • Dimensions and weight: 156.9 x 72.4 x 11.08 mm (folded); 156.9 x 141.5 x 5.3 mm (unfolded) and 241 grams (242.5 grams Collector’s Edition)
  • Others: Harmony OS 3.1, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, WiFi 6, NFC, GPS, USB-C, fingerprint sensor, IPX8 protection

For the rest, the technical sheet is very similar to that of the Huawei P60. There’s a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset without 5G (it’s a strictly LTE phone), two-way satellite communication for texting even without cell coverage, and a seemingly usable camera.

For now there is no price for Spain, although in China it will go on sale with prices between 1,835 and 2,150 euros depending on the storage chosen.

Huawei Watch Ultimate: waterproof to 100 meters and with satellite communication

Finally, the Huawei Watch Ultimate arrives to place the company in the fight for the highest echelons of the smartwatch market. This is a true device with premium features, standing above the well-known GT 3 Pro. Proof of this is a new construction that combines metal, sapphire and ceramic to guarantee its immersion at depths of 100 meters, as well as the ability to send and receive text messages via satellite without having to connect it to a mobile.

Other technical details of interest are the use of an AMOLED screen (1.5 inches and 466 x 466 pixels) with variable refresh rate from 1 to 60 Hz to save battery life, the typical heart rate and blood oxygen saturation sensors, and charging. Qi wireless to not depend on an official base at all times. Of course, it also has satellite positioning. The battery has a capacity of 530 mAh and has an estimated duration of 14 days between charges.

Huawei will announce availability data for Europe soon. In his native China, the rates will be around between 800 and 1,000 euros depending on whether you want a rubber or metal strap.
