Hua Lamphong railway station enter a new phase as a dual-use station, capable of hosting large events and maintaining its function as a center for commuter and tourist trains.
The station has been modernized to accommodate both functions, marking an exciting chapter in its history.
Hua Lamphong, with its Neo-Renaissance-style Italian architecture, has been a cultural landmark in Bangkok since its opening in 1916, deeply intertwined with the country’s railway history.
SRT Public Relations Director Ekkarat Si-arayanphong highlighted the efforts of SRT Governor Nirut Maneephan in overseeing initiatives to transform the grand station into a major event venue. Previously, events such as “Hua Lamphong in Your Eyes and Unfolding Bangkok” were successfully held at the station, attracting more than 30,000 daily visitors, both local and international tourists.
The SRT intends to collaborate with public and private organizations interested in using the Hua Lamphong space for events, enriching the value of the station.

Ekkarat expressed the vision to further develop Hua Lamphong as a venue for major international events. Adding to the charm of the station, seven other vintage trains that played an important role in the history of Thai rail transport will be displayed on platform 4. It is planned to organize more exhibitions in the future.
The SRT intends to collaborate with public and private organizations interested in using the Hua Lamphong space for events, enriching the value of the station.
Regarding commuter and tourist train services, Hua Lamphong currently provides 62 daily services. The SRT has transferred the operation of long-distance rail services to the north, north-east and south of the country from Hua Lamphong station to the newly created central terminus of Krung Thep Aphiwat in Chatuchak district.
