How to Transfer WhatsApp Chats from Android to iPhone

What I need?

To get the transfer up and running, first make sure you have the latest version of WhatsApp on both devices. Please note that to accomplish this action you must also have Android OS Lollipop, SDK 21 or later installed on the Android device, or Android 5 or later. In the iPhone OS step, it must be iOS 15.5 or later installed on the iPhone.

On an Android device, you need to download the Transfer to iOS app from the PlayStore. The iPhone you are transferring to must be new or reset to factory settings.

The next step is to make sure that both devices are connected to the same WiFi network.

How to transfer chats?

• Open the Move to iOS app on your Android phone and follow the on-screen prompts.
• A code will be displayed on your iPhone. When prompted, enter the code on your Android phone.
• Tap ‘Continue’ and follow the on-screen instructions.
• On the ‘Transfer Data’ screen, select WhatsApp.
• Tap ‘Start’ on the Android phone and wait for WhatsApp to prepare the data for export. Once this process is complete, you will be logged out on the Android phone.
• Tap ‘Next’ to return to the Move to iOS app.
• Tap ‘Continue’ to transfer data from Android phone to iPhone and wait for Move to iOS to confirm that the transfer is complete.
• Install the latest version of WhatsApp from the App Store.
• Open WhatsApp and log in with the same phone number you used on your previous device.
• When prompted, tap ‘Start’ and wait for the process to complete.
• Once you’ve finished activating your new device, you’ll be able to see all of your chats.
• After migration, the transferred data will not be stored in the cloud until you create a backup in iCloud.

What cannot be transferred?

You cannot transfer your call history, display name, or media files received through WhatsApp channels.

It is also not possible to transfer chats from an Android device to an iPhone in WhatsApp Business.
