The average cost of a year of tuition at a private university in the United States exceeds $38,000 a year, while at a public institution at least $10,700 is required, according to recently published figures.
That is why scholarships are the best option for those who aspire to pursue university studies, including international students.
“To find scholarships in the United States you have to start early and there are quite a few options online that you can search and there are also options in your community that you can search if someone is offering scholarships to help you,” says Elaine Rubin of edvisors.com
Edvisors has gone from being a “start-up” independently to a subsidiary of College Loan Corporation (CLC), based in Las Vegas.
Options include scholarships offered by local organizations or governments. Colleges provide information about their own and third-party financial aid programs in the United States. In any case, there are specific requirements that, according to specialists, it is better to identify in time.
“It is a process that depends on each person, where they come from and their individual situation, so it is a process that you have to take responsibility for yourself and look for. Because yes there is money, yes there is assistance, but it is a matter of applying and searching,” says David López, director of the Nevada Latino Bar Association.
Statistics show that the number of students enrolled in American universities is declining, with hundreds of thousands of dollars in private scholarships going unclaimed each year.
Experts affirm that it is a matter of knowing how to search because there are always funds.
