However, the feature to remove followers is now available for anyone to use, whether they have a public account or not.
To remove a follower:
- Enter your profile
- Click on ‘Followers’ at the top of your profile
- When the followers list appears, simply find the unwanted follower and select ‘Remove’.
To complete the action, the platform will ask you to confirm that you want to remove that person from your list.
Another way to remove someone from your followers is to go directly to their profile and click on the three vertical dots that appear at the top right of the window.
A menu will appear and the option to select is ‘Remove follower’.
If you remove a follower, the person may not even notice that it happened because they won’t be notified. If your account is public, they will still be able to see your profile, but your posts and stories will no longer appear in their feed.
For those with a private account, deleted followers will no longer be able to see content on your profile.
