In Colombia, the National Administrative Department of Statistics (DANE) has revealed information related to poverty indicators monetary in the country of the year 2023. Thus it was possible to determine the amount of money a person must earn monthly to not be considered poor. How much is it?
What must a person’s income be to not be considered poor?
The DANE indicated that an individual in conditions of extreme poverty receives a monthly figure close to $218,846 and to be monetary poor the remuneration must be less than $435,375 pesos.

In this way, Piedad Urdinola, director of the organization, highlighted that In the last two years a figure close to 1.6 million people throughout Colombia They were able to overcome this condition in information that was also replicated by El Colombiano.

Due to this situation, it would be indicated that the comparison between both periods would represent a decrease of 3.6 points with respect to the data indicated in 2022.
Regarding this situation, Udinola assured: “In 2023, the national per capita extreme poverty line was $218,846, that is, $20,148 more than in 2022. For a household of four people, it was $875,384. And the per capita monetary poverty line was $435,375, $38,511 more than in 2022. For a household of four it was $1,741,500.”

In the midst of all this panorama and as highlighted by official entities, the cities that experienced the highest rates of monetary poverty were Quibdó and Valledupar. The cases of Manizales and Medellín, meanwhile, reflected a lower incidence with respect to the previously mentioned variables.
