What is Trade in smartphones on Mercado Libre?
The Trade in smartphones or the Canje Plan is a program in which Mercado Libre users can access bonuses when purchasing a participating smartphone and trade in your old phone. The bonus consists of an amount of money according to the conditions of your mobile.
The program is organized by Deremate.com de México, S. de RL de CV and is aimed only at Mercado Libre buyers over 18 years of age, and can only participate once.
How to trade in your cell phone
Step 1
Log in to Mercado Libre and buy a new phone with the Plan Canje logo, and accept the terms and conditions. The Plan will be subject to the user receiving the eligible product, who does not request a return or is unaware of the purchase within ten days thereafter.
Otherwise, the process will be automatically cancelled, and you will lose the possibility of returning your used product and receiving the bonus.
Step 2
Quote your old phone in the section on the website. Within the Eligible Product listing, there will be a “Quote” option that will show a list of brands and models under “Participating Products.” There you should find the one that corresponds to your used phone. If it is not on the list, you will not be able to continue with the process.
If you have identified it, the Quotation will request additional information about the product specifications, such as color, memory, condition, operation, IMEI code, among others. It is worth mentioning that the device must be in good condition and working properly.
The IMEI code must be valid, readable and not blocked. It must not be stolen or on the blacklist, according to the Participation Requirements. The user is responsible for the information declared.
Once the Used Product Data is filled out, the Quotation Provider will provide an estimated Bonus value (Initial Quotation) that may not coincide with the final amount, after confirming the information and condition of the phone.
Participating in Trade in smartphones implies accepting the terms and conditions of Mercado Pago Standard, as well as those established in the Contract for the Issuance and Mercantile Deposit of Electronic Payment Funds.
Step 3
Within 10 days of receiving the eligible product or new cell phone, you must return the used phone through a FedEx branch, at the same office where the previous delivery took place.
The cell phone must not have any information about its previous use and must be prepared according to the instructions that will be provided. The user will have a free shipping code which must be used within seven calendar days to send it to the place indicated by Mercado Libre.
Otherwise, the Exchange Plan will be automatically cancelled.
Step 4
The used product will be evaluated to ensure that it matches the information in the initial quote. If it differs from what was stated, the bonus amount will be modified and, within three business days of receiving the used phone, the user will be informed of the new amount as the Final Quote, or even its rejection.
The user will have a maximum period of three business days to accept or reject the final quote. In any case of rejection, the Exchange Plan will be automatically cancelled, the Used Product will be returned and the User will lose the possibility of receiving the Bonus.
Step 5
In case you decide and accept the Final Quote, the Bonus will be credited to the Mercado Pago Waller Account, to guarantee the execution of the program and ensure the best shopping experience. To do this, you will have to go through an identity validation process.
