Houthis claim two separate attacks on two ships in the Red Sea and Indian Ocean

MADRID 10 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Yemen’s Houthi rebels have claimed responsibility this Thursday for two separate attacks in the Red Sea and the Indian Ocean in response to the Israeli Army’s offensive against the Gaza Strip, where almost 42,100 people have died.

The Houthi military operations spokesman, Yahya Sari, explained that they have launched eleven ballistic missiles and two drones against a first ship, identified as ‘Olympic Spirit’ which, according to maritime geolocation pages, sails under the Liberian flag.

The vessel was 135 kilometers southwest of the Yemeni port of Hodeida, according to the British security firm Ambrey. Due to the attack there has been minor damage to the ship, which has continued on its way, according to ‘The Guardian’.

The second attack, carried out with a missile, hit the ship ‘St John’, which was transiting the Indian Ocean. “The ship was attacked due to the violation of the ban on access to the ports of occupied Palestine by the company that owns it,” he added.

The Houthis, who have controlled the Yemeni capital, Sanaa, and other areas of the north and west of the country since 2015, have launched attacks against Israeli territory and against ships with some type of Israeli connection as a result of the offensive launched against Gaza after the attacks carried out on October 7 by the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas).
