( Spanish) — The local elections of the State of Mexico and Coahuila are held this June 4, and more than 15 million Mexicans will be summoned to elect the governor in the first, and the governor and deputies in the second.
This Sunday, when there is also dry law in both states, three voting modes are enabled, so you will have to take into account the hours for face-to-face voting that will take place not only in Mexico, but abroad.
Voting hours
Voters who will participate in local elections and attend the polls must take into account the closure of voting.
The National Electoral Institute (INE) reported the polls in the State of Mexico and in Coahuila will be open from 8 in the morning and will close at 18:00 local time. And polling places close when there are no more people in line.
Hours for voting abroad
Mexicans living abroad have three types of voting, which also have a deadline.
electronic vote: It is done through the Internet and is available from May 20 and will close on June 4 before 18:00 TCM. This vote will be made through the Voting System (SIVEI).
Postal voting: To vote through this modality, people had to previously register with the INE. Postal voting is enabled between April 27 and May 10, when the INE sent the ballots to the address. During the entire month of May, the vote had to be cast and sent back to the INE, until June 3 at 8:00 am The votes will be counted on June 4.
In-person vote: In-person voting for foreigners is enabled in the US (Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles) and Canada (Montreal) during business hours. 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. local time. In Los Angeles the consulates will be open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.local time.
To opt for this option, people had to register before March 10, 2023.
