Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee kept a meeting with more than 100 Hong Kong members of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPPC) to exchange different views.
The meeting focused on actively integrating Hong Kong into national development, fostering high-quality development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and strengthening innovation and technology development. local level and youth work, before they attend the first session of the 14th CCPPC National Committee, to be held in Beijing.
Also in attendance at the engagement session were Principal Secretary for Administration Chan Kwok-ki; the Secretary for Constitutional and Continental Affairs, Erick Tsang Kwok-wai; and the Director of the Office of the Chief Executive, Carol Yip.
Lee stated that the Hong Kong CCPPC National Committee members are leaders from various sectors and are familiar with the country’s and Hong Kong’s affairs. They not only contribute to the advancement of China, but also listen to the opinions of citizens, playing a key role as a communication bridge.

“By fully lifting the mask mandate today, Hong Kong has fully resumed normalcy and will spare no efforts in pursuing economic growth and development to bring benefits to the society as a whole,” Lee said.
He further added that “the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government will continue to maintain close communication with the Hong Kong members of the CCPPC National Committee and unite the different sectors of the community, with a view to enhancing the power and value of the ‘patriots running Hong Kong’.
Lee expressed gratitude to the members who attended the session for providing constructive suggestions to enable Hong Kong to better take advantage of its unique advantages of enjoying the strong support of the motherland and being closely connected with the world under the framework of “one country, two systems” to build a more harmonious society.
