Kaspersky adds that scammers also use the latest technology to create fake retailer websites that look like real online stores and use stolen logos and copied designs. Many of these websites offer popular brands of clothing or jewelry, or devices at low prices.

Given this, he pointed out, there are tools that analyze operations, such as Signifyd, in order to identify unusual patterns that could reveal a scam.

“When the user clicks on pay, in a matter of seconds an analysis is made of many variables such as where the transaction is being made, the address from which the product is ordered, from which IP address the purchase is made, which device was used. , what is the linked email”, among others, he explained.

León explained that, according to their estimates, based on the cases they handle, incorporating technology that analyzes business transactions increases sales between 10% and 15%.

In the case of users, he said, the general recommendation is to use complex passwords, not easily related to basic data (birthdays, telephone numbers, addresses), not to repeat the same password in different accounts to avoid that if one is violated, more attacks could occur. and renew these numbers periodically.

Kaspersky recommends that you do not click on links or open attachments within suspicious text messages or emails, and never respond to unwanted messages or calls requesting personal or financial information.
