According to the government party, the Attorney “has assumed powers in open contravention of repeated judgments of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights and the jurisprudence of the Council of State“on opening”investigations that can end with the suspension (as has already happened), dismissal and disqualification of congressmen, when said competence resides exclusively in judicial bodies“.
The Prosecutor’s Office (Public Ministry) can investigate congressmen and public officials if you consider that they exceed their duties or misuse their power and public money, but the Historical Pact ensures that investigations have been opened against congressmen such as Wilson Arias, María José Pizarro, David Racero or Alexander López.
Two senators from the Historical Pact (Roy Barreras and César Pachón9) were suspended in recent weeks by judicial bodies such as the council of state by double militancy, which is prohibited by electoral law.

However, Senator Arias denounced a “unleashed legal war“against him, when the Attorney General notified him of a statement of charges for events that occurred 2 years ago, in which he defended young people during the national strike.
