But Hispasat has been awarded this taskwhich will bring broadband to all rural areas where there is no wired connectionor if there is one, it is of a speed lower than 50 Mbps. Hispasat will do it with satellite technology much more simple to implement in those areas where the fiber optic cable does not reach. All this with a flat rate of 35 euros per month.
For this, it has been granted the grant of aid from €76.3 million of the UNICO Rural Demand program. This capital includes the facility that will provide the necessary infrastructure to offer this connection. lightning fast satellite at no cost to the end userfor which some €36 million of the total assigned. Hispasat will offer, at least, a broadband connection 100Mbps until December 31, 2027.
This plan of reach 100% of rural areas with broadband availability is planned for the 2026 Digital Spain Agenda. In addition to this measure, the UNICO Rural Demand program also plans to extend 5G networks in Spain.
