CES 2025 has been the place and time chosen by HiSense to unveil what will be its first fully commercial Micro LED television (header photo). Dubbed 136MX, it has a huge size of 136 inches and the usual benefits of Micro LED technology, with nothing more and nothing less than 24.88 million independent LED points generating RGB color.
Thanks to the ability to dim and deactivate its pixels, the HiSense 136MX can generate a black as absolute as OLED, but without the degradation typical of panels based on organic compounds and with a blinding brightness, generating a maximum of 10,000 nits. In the case of this particular model, HiSense also boasts of covering 95% of the BT.2020 and VRR color space at 120Hz.
Other notable features of the HiSense 136MX are compatibility with Dolby Vision IQ, HDR10+ and Filmmaker Mode (which activates a more “neutral” configuration at the processing level), Dolby Atmos, DTS Virtual X, FreeSync Premium Pro and HDMI 2.1 (HDMI 2.2 is still too new).
HiSense has not provided the price of the 136MX or the specific launch date, but hopefully it will drop below 100,000 euros to stoke the competition.
MiniLED with locally dimmable RGB lighting as an intermediate option
Knowing that the price of its first Micro LED television will possibly scare away the average consumer, HiSense has also attended CES with a MiniLED television with advanced features. This is the 116UX, a model that stands out for using a 116-inch LCD panel with RGB TriChroma lighting.
Unlike other televisions full array with local dimming, the HiSense one does not use white or blue LED diodes, but instead incorporates red, green and blue lighting points “that generate pure colors directly at the source.” Through correct management, the attenuation of these three colors allows the creation of seemingly more vibrant and accurate colors, covering 97% of the BT.2020 space.
HiSense has not indicated the number of integrated LED points, but speaks of “tens of thousands of RGB optical lenses with local dimming”, implying that they can be dimmed independently or in combination to improve image fidelity, “eliminating virtually the blooming“.
Otherwise, the HiSense 116UX will provide up to 10,000 nits of brightness, 6.2.2 sound compatible with Dolby Atmos and DTS Virtual X, and Google TV as a smart TV platform.
As with its older brother Micro LED, the HiSense 116UX does not yet have a price or release date.
