The documents dated October 15 and 16 were prepared by US Intelligence.

Washington is investigating the leak of two alleged US intelligence documents containing highly classified information about Israel’s plans to attack Iran, reported citing three people familiar with the matter.

According to sources, the documents dated October 15 and 16, began circulating online on Friday after being posted on a Telegram channel called ‘Middle East Spectator’. A US official, whose name was not revealed, insisted that this was an incident “deeply worrying“.

It is specified that the documents have marks that indicate that they can only be seen by The United States and its Five Eyes allies: Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the United Kingdom.

In one of them, presumably compiled by the National Geospatial Intelligence Agencythere is talk of plans that involve Israel moving ammunition. Meanwhile, another document that supposedly comes from the National Security Agencydescribes Israeli air force exercises involving air-to-surface missiles.

One of the documents also suggests that Israel has nuclear weaponssomething that the Hebrew country has never publicly confirmed.

Will it affect Israel’s plans?

A US official said that the investigation is currently being carried out to determine who had access to the alleged Pentagon document. “If it is true that Israeli tactical plans to respond to Iran’s October 1 attack were leaked, This is a serious violation“said Mick Mulroy, former deputy assistant secretary of defense for the Middle East and retired CIA officer.

The expert highlighted that “future coordination between the United States and Israel could also be threatened“Trust is a key component of the relationship and, depending on how this information is leaked, that trust could be eroded,” he concluded.

An American official pointed out told Axios that the alleged leak is extremely worrying, but that he does not believe it will influence Israel’s operational plans against Iran. In turn, a senior Israeli official stated that his country’s defense is aware of the leak and takes her “very seriously”.

Since last October 1, when Iran launched almost 200 ballistic missiles against Israeli targets, the Jewish State continues to threaten Tehran with a response. Last week, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant promised that an attack on Iran would be launched soon and that it would be a “lethal, precise and especially surprising” response.
