Hezbollah warns Israel to "expect surprises"

May 25. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The leader of Hezbollah, Hasan Nasrallah, warned this Friday the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, that “he should expect surprises” on his part and has assured that Iran, an ally of the Lebanese Shiite militia party, “will continue to be the support Palestine’s strongest in this world.

“Netanyahu is heading towards a dead end and leading the opposing front towards a historic and significant victory,” declared the Secretary General of Hezbollah, while warning the Israeli leader that he “should expect surprises” on his part.

“Neither your deception nor the pressure of your masters will help you and this resistance will continue (…). Our first objective is to support Gaza and the second is to prevent any aggression against Lebanon,” he said during a tribute to the Iranian president, Ebrahim. Raisi, who died last Sunday in a helicopter accident along with Foreign Minister Hosein Amirabdolahian and several of his companions.

At the event, broadcast on the Shiite group’s television channel, Al Manar, Nasrallah reiterated the support of the Islamic Republic and its allies for the Palestinian people. “Iran will continue to be Palestine’s strongest supporter in this world,” he declared. In this sense, furthermore, he has addressed “all the enemies” of Iran, whom he has said are “living in an illusion” if they expect the ayatollah regime to “weaken and abandon Palestine.”

Nasrallah spoke these words in response to statements made this Thursday by Netanyahu stating that his Government has “detailed, important and even surprising plans” to confront Hezbollah, with whom it has had a series of clashes since October 8, a day after the attacks carried out by Hamas against Israeli territory, which left around 1,200 dead and around 240 kidnapped.

Since then, Israeli authorities have threatened to intervene militarily in Lebanon to put an end to the organization, which they consider “terrorist.”

The Lebanese Government on Wednesday put the death toll at more than 360 as a result of the attacks carried out by Israel since October 8, without differentiation between civilians and Hezbollah combatants. It is estimated that nearly 300 members of the group have died in the hostilities.
