The Shiite militia party Hezbollah launched “more than 60 rockets” this Thursday against northern Israel and the Golan Heights in response to the bombings carried out on Wednesday by the Israeli Army against the Bekaa Valley, located in the east of Lebanon.

“In response to Israeli aggression against the Bekaa Valley, resistance fighters have fired more than 60 Katyusha-type rockets at the 210th Division command in the Golan Heights,” the group said, according to the Al Manar television network, linked to Hezbollah.

The Israeli Army has confirmed that around 40 projectiles have crossed the border after being fired from southern Lebanon, as reported by the newspaper ‘The Times of Israel’, without at the moment there being details on victims or material damage. .

The Golan Heights are a territory that Israel seized from Syria during the Six-Day War (1967) and the Yom Kippur War (1973) and that it effectively annexed in 1981, in a movement not recognized by the international community. .

During the day on Wednesday, the Israeli Army stated that a kamikaze drone launched by Hezbollah hit a military installation in the north of the country, causing material damage. In response, Israel launched bombing raids around the city of Baalbek.

The Israeli Army and Hezbollah – backed by Iran and which has significant political weight in Lebanon – have been engaged in a series of clashes since October 8, a day after the attacks carried out by the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas). which left nearly 1,200 dead and about 240 kidnapped, according to Israeli authorities.
