September 8 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Lebanese group Hezbollah launched more than 50 rockets at Israeli territory early Sunday morning, according to the Israel Defense Forces, which have also confirmed bombings against militia positions in southern Lebanon.
Hezbollah has announced in a statement that it is launching a new offensive in response to the deaths on Saturday of three members of Lebanon’s General Directorate of Civil Defense in a bombing carried out by Israeli forces, according to the Al Manar channel.
The IDF said that between 1:00 and 2:30 a.m. local time, some 20 rockets were detected, most of which were intercepted. However, several of them hit the Kiryat Shemona area and caused material damage.
Some 30 more were launched around 5:30 a.m., although in this case the projectiles that failed to intercept Israeli air defense systems landed in open ground and therefore did not cause damage, the IDF reported.
The Israeli army has also carried out new attacks against southern Lebanon, in one of which a member of the Amal party is believed to have been killed. According to the IDF, this “terrorist” was inside a Hezbollah compound.
