MADRID Dec. 10 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Lebanese Shiite militia party Hezbollah has warned of the “consequences” of the Israeli deployment in the Golan Heights, where in recent days the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have reinforced their presence, alleging a “security threat” after the large-scale offensive launched last week by jihadists and rebels in Syria and who have overthrown the Bashar al Assad regime.
“The crimes that the Zionist enemy continues to commit on Syrian territory, whether by occupying more territory in the Golan Heights or attacking and destroying the defensive capabilities of the Syrian State, represent flagrant aggression and a blatant violation of the sovereignty of the State and the people Syrians, and constitute an attempt to destabilize this brother country,” reads a statement.
Hezbollah has emphasized that the decision of the Israeli authorities to occupy Syrian territory “adds to the continued aggression of the Zionist Army against Lebanon and its daily violations and attacks against Gaza,” according to the Lebanese news agency NNA.
Finally, he called on “the world, especially the Arab and Islamic world,” to adopt “firm positions against these crimes and to exert pressure in all political and legal spheres to stop this series of attacks, since all the justifications presented by the enemy are flimsy accusations.”
The Golan Heights are a territory that Israel seized from Syria during the Six-Day War (1967) and the Yom Kippur War (1973) and effectively annexed in 1981, a movement not recognized by the community. international.
The offensive in Syria, launched on November 27 from the province of Idlib and led by the Syrian group Hayat Tahrir al Sham (HTS), has allowed jihadists and rebels to take the capital, Damascus, and put an end to the Al family regime Assad, in power since 1971, faced with a constant withdrawal of government troops, backed by Russia and Iran.
