Health reform: Vargas Lleras filed his counter-project

Former vice president and natural leader of the party Radical change, German Vargas Lleras, filed its counter-reform to health in the Congress of the Republic on Tuesday. Initiative whose axes are to maintain the EPS and that prepaid medicine is not affected.

The document has 42 articles and within the great differences with the reform presented by the government of Gustavo Petroit is intended that this be processed as statutory law, which implies that further review.

To which is added that it must be processed by the First Committees of the Senate and Chamber. This in the ordinary sessions that should begin on March 16.

Vargas Lleras mentions that: “it is necessary to safeguard the management of financial and operational risks, particularly those EPS that comply with the financial indicators. And preserve the service networks that the EPS currently have“, therefore, the articles that they propose.

Additionally, it describes some of the most relevant points of this project, among which are unifying the provision of services of the subsidized and contributory regime; the evolution and strengthening of the health insurance scheme; insurance coverage; to financial protection of the health system, among others.

It is expected that the discussion of this project will be scheduled in Congress.
