The sailor and captain of the New Zealand team, organizer of the America’s Cup of Sailing, Grant Dalton, has highlighted Barcelona’s conditions for having chosen it to host the competition in 2024: “It has everything we believe in”.
He said this this Saturday at the Real Club Náutico de Barcelona during a meeting with the executive president of Puig, Marc Puig, regarding the XV Puig Vela Clàssica Barcelona regatta, the organizers of the competition reported in a statement.
Dalton has insisted that choosing Barcelona was a correct decision: “With the passing of days I reaffirm how correct the decision was.”
He has also delivered one of the trophies of the Puig Vela Clàssica Barcelona regatta, which is co-organized by the Real Club Náutico and Puig, and which ended this Saturday afternoon.

During the award ceremony, Marc Puig congratulated the winners and reaffirmed his commitment to Barcelona and his drive for the city’s international visibility.
He also highlighted the importance of teamwork and the world of sailing, which he considers key in making Barcelona the venue for the next edition of the America’s Cup.
