HBO has spoken about the future of “Euphoria.”
Over the weekend, there were reports that the teen drama series starring Zendaya was canceled after two seasons.
However, HBO put an end to those rumors in a statement to the independent.
“Euphoria will go into production in 2025,” a network representative said.
“Nothing has changed,” they added.
The Post has contacted HBO for comment.
“Euphoria” has been on a long hiatus since its second season finished airing in February 2022. The series originally debuted in 2019.
The show faced initial delays due to the 2023 strikes by the Writers Guild of America and the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists in Hollywood.
There were also scheduling conflicts between the star-studded cast which, in addition to Zendaya, includes Jacob Elordi, Sydney Sweeney, Hunter Schafer, Alexa Demie, Maude Apatow, Eric Dane, Storm Reid and Colman Domingo.
During the program break, Star Angus Cloud died in July 2023. at the age of 25. His death was ruled an accidental overdose due to the combined effects of methamphetamine, cocaine, fentanyl and benzodiazepine.
But earlier this year, HBO confirmed that The third season of “Euphoria” will begin production in January 2025with all the main cast members set to reprise their roles.
“I am delighted that we are ready to begin production on ‘Euphoria’ in January. “We couldn’t be happier with our creative partnership with Sam and this incredible cast,” Francesca Orsi, HBO’s executive vice president of programming and head of HBO drama series and films, said in a statement in July.
“We look forward to bringing this new season of ‘Euphoria’ to life for fans,” Orsi added.
HBO CEO Casey Bloys previously said there had been “a lot of back and forth” with creator Sam Levinson and the idea of a five-year time jump for the characters.
“I think one of the issues Sam is thinking about is that he doesn’t want to have it in high school anymore,” Bloys told Variety in June. “That’s where it was established and what made sense then.”
Zendaya, who also executive produces, most recently addressed the return of the program last month.
“I don’t really know much about what’s going on,” the 28-year-old said. Entertainment Weekly. “I don’t know exactly what the season will be like, but I do know that a jump in time is happening.”
Zendaya continued: “For me, at least, it’s [exciting]and it will be fascinating to see and understand these characters outside of the context of high school and how everything we saw as kids and in high school affects the kind of adulthood they have and who they become in a much bigger world . I’ll also be interested to see what happens.”
For his role as Drug Addicted Teen Rue BennettZendaya has won two Emmy Awards, a Golden Globe and a Critics’ Choice Award.
Sweeney, who plays Cassie Howard, said People In September she is “excited” to finally return to the show.
“She’s definitely one of the most special characters to me and I love my Euphoria family, so I’m looking forward to it,” the actress added.
